May 11, 2009 — Astronaut Timothy Kopra is headed into outer space, and next month, and when he goes, he'll be taking Taylor Swift with him.
Well, not Taylor herself, but definitely her music. Timothy's daughter, Jacqueline, is a huge fan of Taylor, and with that in mind, he reached out to Big Machine Records president Scott Borchetta, who got a bunch of her merchandise into Timothy's hands.
Tim, in turn, plans to take Taylor's CD along with him June 13 when the Expedition 20 space shuttle takes off for the International Space Station. Timothy intends to take a photo of Taylor's CD on the station, then return it to Earth, where it will be returned to Taylor, whose music can then literally be declared out of this world.
A day after the launch, Taylor will have a big day in her hometown. She's slated to appear at Nashville's LP Field on the final evening of the CMA Music Festival, where the lineup will also feature Montgomer y Gentry, John Rich, Miranda Lambert and Jack Ingram.
