Keith Urban: Wallowing Allowed

May 13, 2009 — With his endless stream of optimistic hits, Keith Urban has built a concert set list that makes him one of the most optimistically motivating acts in the business.
Not that he doesn't feel his fair share of disappointment. "You'll Think Of Me" demonstrated Keith's ability to capture emotional pain; in fact, he's fully supportive of embracing so-called negative emotions, though he's not one to wallow in them longer than necessary.
"There's a satiation in reveling in the pity thing for a bit, and that's fine," he told Suzanne Alexander on the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "We all do it in varying degrees. Some people live in it, but I do it myself. I get caught up in it, and I enjoy being down and negative and dark and gloomy and depressing. It satiates me for a little while, and then it starts to really tick me off. But I think you0ve got to grieve it out, process it, yell it, scream it out, whatever you want to do, but then when you're ready, move on."

Keith is definitely on the move in the coming months. He kicked off his Escape Together World Tour last week and continues this weekend with shows in St. Paul, Chicago and Green Bay. Opening all three concerts is the Zac Brown Band.
