May 20, 2009 — It's been close to nine years since Kenny Chesney released his first Greatest Hits album, and as a result, his new Greatest Hits II digs way back in some cases, with "Young" dating all the way back to 2002 when it was the lead track from the album No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems.
The song's "woo woo" chorus was sheer fun, and its nostalgic theme was the first of several Kenny hits with backward-glancing lyrics. "Young" was also a turning point in his career.
"If I had to put my finger on one song that kinda took me to the next level and started this amazing magic-carpet ride that we've all been on over the last several years would be 'Young,'" he says. "It's still my favorite song to do live."
Fans can pretty much count on it being in the set list when Kenny cranks out a trio of concerts this coming weekend. He's set to play Greenville, S.C., Thursday; Columbia, Md., Friday; and Columbus, Ohio, S aturday. Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum open all three dates with Sugarland added for the Saturday gig at Crew Stadium.
