May 15, 2009 — The Lost Trailers picked up their first bona fide hit last year with "Holler Back," and the band is back in country's Top 20 with the follow-up single, "How 'Bout You Don't."
It's a sweet payoff for the group, built around Ryder Lee and Stokes Nielson, who became friends during high school. The band made its live debut at one of Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnics, and the guys continued to hammer away at music for years. It wasn't easy, but it's given them a huge appreciation for their current run of good times.
"Being friends from high school and going through all the tough knocks that we've had over the years makes this all the sweeter," Stokes says. "And I don't think any of us would regret one honky-tonk, one of those endless nights, one of those [trips] drivin', you know, a Suburban from Amarillo to Nashville and=2 0 playin' shows back to back and not gettin' any sleep and havin' to drink and eat a bunch of gas station food for seven days on the road. None of us regret any of that, 'cause it got us here."
And "here" is looking pretty good. They recently collaborated with one of their musical heroes: former Alabama vocalist Randy Owen. They've also got a heavy touring schedule ahead of them. Among the highlights is an appearance in July at the GAC-sponsored Country Thunder festival in Twin Lakes, Wis. Others in the four-day schedule include Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Kellie Pickler and Tracy Lawrence.
