May 12, 2009 — Former "American Idol" champion Carrie Underwood is part of a package on the FOX show Tuesday night following a return trip to Africa.
Carrie spent some time in Angola the last few weeks visiting places that benefited from financial aid raised during a previous "Idol Gives Back" outreach. It marked the second time Carrie's visited the Dark Continent with "Idol."
"The first one that I got to do for 'Idol Gives Back' kind of showed everybody what the problem was," she says. "So many people have donated, and so many people have done such good things. And 'Idol Gives Back' has done such good things. This trip is about showing people what good their money has done."
Carrie's made huge strides since she graduated from "American Idol" in 2005. Her current remake of Randy Travis' "I Told You So" went to No. 1 — the 10th single of her career to reach that level on one of several national charts. It makes her the first country star in history to net 10 No. 1s from her first two albums. Look for her on the cover of Country Weekly magazine.
