CMT's Busy Week of Tapings

From Tennessean staff writer Cindy Watts:
CMT is having one of its busiest production weeks ever — shooting four new shows to air over the summer months with some of country music's biggest stars.
Jason Aldean and Bryan Adams became the latest pair of singers for the country music network's CMT Crossroads series when they filmed in Franklin earlier this week. The show will air 8 p.m. June 26 on CMT.
And Darius Rucker, Brad Paisley and Reba McEntire will be featured in new episodes of CMT's performance series Invitation Only, which are in the process of being shot. Each 60-minute episode features an act performing hit songs and new material, as well as engaging in a question-and-answer session with the studio audience.
Brad filmed his episode on Wednesday and, as expected, kept the audience laughing most of the night.
"OK, this is the question-and-answer portion," he said. "Great. I want you to know I was not provided the questions ahead of time. … What's my favorite color? Is that it?" he joked.
Actually Brad answered questions about his family life, his influences, his background in West Virginia, and even what he has on his iPod. The answer, he said, would surprise people. Among those he listed were My Chemical Romance, AC/DC and Van Halen, as well as jazz and blues, although he said he doesn't play My Chemical Romance for his new baby son, Jasper.
Brad also gave the audience a preview of his "fantastic" new album, American Saturday Night, which is due in stores June 30.
"My new record has a lot of observations from my life and what's going on around me," he said.
If Wednesday's performance is any indication, fans can expect the album to run the gamut of the emotional spectrum. Brad said he wrote new song "If He's Anything Like Me" about "the horrors of having a boy" and that his goal was to "not come off as a complete cheese ball" when he was writing current hit single "Then." True to his form, Brad also debuted a laugh-out-loud ditty called "The Pants" with the hook line, "It's not who wears the pants, it's who wears the skirts."
This four-episode series Invitation Only is set to debut on CMT on July 3 with Darius. Fans can watch for Brad's and Reba's episodes in August. Sugarland had to cancel a series taping this week because singer Jennifer Nettles is on vocal rest; however the network hopes to reschedule and get the duo on the air as well.
Jennifer's label, Mercury, announced on Thursday that she was under doctor's orders to rest her voice for the next 10 days due to a viral tonsil condition, forcing her to cancel May 7-9 tour dates in Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Sugarland's Love On The Inside tour will resume on May 15 in Orange Beach, Ala.
