May 8, 2009 — George Strait continues his troubadour ways over the summer as he kicks off a new tour Saturday in Hidalgo, Texas, with Blake Shelton and Julianne Hough.
For Julianne, it's yet another plank in her career foundation: She released her first album last year, won the Academy of Country Music's New Artist of the Year award and garnered plenty of attention as a cast member on ABC's "Dancing With The Stars." This run of dates has Julianne filled with anticipation.
"There's nothing bigger than going out with George Strait, and the fact that he asked me to be on his tour — and his wife, I'm in awe about that, too," she says. "And the fact that Blake Shelton's awesome, and I can't wait to see Miranda out there — I love Miranda to death — so hopefully she'll come and hang out. Anyway, it's gonna be amazing. I feel like I grew so much l ast year bein' on the Brad [Paisley] tour, and I feel like I'll grow so much this year."
The itinerary includes a couple of major stadium dates. They play the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium June 6 with Reba McEntire joining the lineup. And a performance at Houston's Reliant Stadium was just announced for Aug. 8. On that date, they'll be joined by Sugarland. Julianne, Brad and Reba are also slated for Nashville's LP Field on June 11 during the CMA Music Festival. They'll share the stage with Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Darius Rucker and Rascal Flatts.
