Joe Nichols will play the lead role in the Broadway version of the George Strait film, Pure Country. Nichols told CMT Insider he would be going to New York City at the end of October and that the show would start in early 2010. Nichols said the production is an updated version of the 1992 movie. Asked how he feels about stepping into a role originated by Strait, Nichols said, "It feels pretty amazing. He's been a hero of mine since I was a little kid so to come along behind him ... on Broadway and do something that people dream their whole lives of doing is pretty amazing." Nichols has also released a new single, "Believers," to country radio.
