April 15, 2009 — In more than three decades of recording, Reba McEntire has won a Grammy Award, collected No. 1 records and nabbed more than 70 gold and platinum honors. Yet she's still finding new heights to scale, as she did this week with "Strange."
The single, released just hours after she introduced it on the "44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards" show, brought the highest solo chart debut of her career, bursting on to Billboard's Top Country Songs chart at No. 39. It's her first release since signing with the Valory Music Co. after a 25-year run with MCA Records.
"I have had the most fun of my career picking out songs for my new record on Valory," she says. "To have this first one be the highest debuting song of my career so far is just icing on the cake."
Reba worked with producer Tony Brown on the album, which is expected this summer.
