Jessica Simpson is no longer on the Sony Music Nashville artist roster, and her plans for continuing her country music career are not immediately known. In launching her country career, Simpson made appearances at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville in June 2008. "Come On Over," her debut country single on Sony BMG's Epic/Columbia imprint, peaked at No. 18 on Billboard's country songs chart in August. Her first country album, Do You Know, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's country chart when it was released in September. The album netted one additional single, "Remember That," which peaked at No. 42 in December. She has been touring this year as the opening act on Rascal Flatts' tour. A spokesman at Sony BMG Nashville declined to comment about Simpson's status at the label, although the company's Nashville Web site no longer lists her as one of its artists. A spokesperson for Simpson told CMT.com, "Jessica is and has always been an Epic artist. She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album. She continues to be on Epic's label."
