June 9, 2009 — Sara Evans has been making albums for a dozen years, but she's a newbie when it comes to writing novels. Her first one, The Sweet By And By, is due in August, and she looks like a promising author, according to the book industry trade Publishers Weekly.
A review of the book calls it a "heartwarming collaborative debut" from Sara and co-writer Rachel Hauck. The piece goes on to lay out the characters: a Southern antique dealer set to marry an attorney, though she's never quite gotten an annulment for a teen wedding. It is, the review suggests, "comforting in that Southern way and inspirational without being too saccharine." As a team, Sara and Rachel, the critic says, "show promise."
The book will not be top of mind for Sara on Saturda y. She and Sarah Buxton are set to perform during an ABC Block Party in Nashville during the CMA Music Festival. The event will feature music from a number of daytime stars from the soap operas "All My Children," "One Life To Live" and "General Hospital."
