June 19, 2009 — Darryl Worley and wife Kimberly welcomed their daughter, Savannah Gail, in March 2008, and 15 months later, she's bonded with her mom and dad.
That poses a problem, though, when Dad's on the road. When the TV is on, he sometimes pops up on the screen, and it's completely confusing to his little girl.
"I got a call from her mom the other night, and obviously they were watchin' GAC and the video came on, and little Savannah had a fit," Darryl told Suzanne Alexander on the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "[Kimberly] said she was really confused. She kept lookin' at [her] and goin', 'Ma ma ma ma ma ma.' And then look back at the TV and goin', 'Da da da da.' It was weird that she knew it was me. I'm on the screen but she would look at her , and [Kimberly] knew she was thinkin', 'Where is he in the house? Where is he in the house?' and I was in West Tennessee, so she's pickin' up on it already."
It would not have been out of line, Suzanne suggested, for Savannah to look for her daddy behind the TV set.
"I would have!" Darryl laughed.
He has plenty of reasons to be in a good mood these days. While everything's chugging along at home, he just released a new album, Sounds Like Life. The title track is at No. 25 on the Country Aircheck singles chart.
