Lady Antebellum Pushes Ahead

feature

June 18, 2009 — Lady Antebellum is currently in the Top 10 on the USA Today Mediabase country singles chart with "I Run To You," the band's third hit from its debut album.
The CD went gold in February, but the trio is hoping its sophomore project will exceed the first one's reach.
"Hopefully it'll bust open the doors a lot more than the first album," Charles Kelley told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "We're just so excited about it. We've been writing a bunch for and we're kind of working on it right now, but there's still so many people that are just now hearing about us so we're going to keep pushing on with this first album. And we're just so thrilled with how 'I Run To You' has been doing. I feel like it's connected more than any single we've had out so far. It's just been a blessing and if we can keep doing this for the rest of our lives, that's the goal, so hopefully the second album will beat the first. We'll see."
In the meantime, Charles has another project in the works. He got engaged to Cassie McConnell on Christmas, and the couple is watching its wedding day creep ever closer.
"We've been waiting for this day for awhile," he said. "I won't give up the date, but it is coming soon and we're just extremely excited and looking forward to it."

The trio has three more immediate dates this weekend, beginning with a performance Thursday in New Berlin, Ill. They join Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert Friday in Somerset, Wis., and Saturday in Fargo, N.D.
