March 20, 2009 — Months after she began writing and recording for her new album, Martina McBride's Shine gets released on Tuesday with a title that's meant to be as inspirational as the songs for which she's known.
"I love the word," she says, of Shine. "I think it's really positive and strong and powerful, and that's one of my favorite lyrics from the song 'Ride' is 'shine, while you have the chance to shine,' because I feel like sometimes you go along, and you take things for granted. And all of a sudden, you're reminded you get one shot to do this. You get one shot to live this life, and you should shine while you have the chance to shine. You should go out there and be undeniable. And so it's inspirational to me ... very inspirational."
Martina's already on the cover of First magazine, and she'll make a bundle of TV appearan ces to promote Shine, including NBC's "Today," E! Entertainment's "Chelsea Lately," A&E's "Private Sessions" and the syndicated programs "Live With Regis And Kelly," "Rachael Ray" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
"Ride" is currently rolling at No. 14 on the Country Aircheck chart. And a couple of Martina's songs earned additional attention this week: "Independence Day" and "Wild Angels" were both covered Tuesday on a Grand Ole Opry-themed edition of "American Idol."
