March 13, 2009 — If Dierks Bentley could write a letter to Brad Paisley, he'd probably want to include something about a Paisley song that he particularly likes — one that shows an adult appreciation for teenage angst.
"'Letter to Me' is just a great song," Dierks told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "It's really well-written. A lot of Brad's writing has a really clever little twist. You know, like, there's that line about passing Algebra: 'You'll squeak by and get a C'? The double use of the word 'C,' — like the letter you get on your grades, but as well as you stick around and see that you're still around to write this letter to me. Really clever writing in that song, and it's a really big part of his show."
Dierks should know about the show, because he's been openi ng for Brad on the Paisley Party Tour. That round of dates comes to a close in Nashville Saturday with Darius Rucker also on the bill. Dierks will open for Brad again when the American Saturday Night Tour opens this summer.
