May 7, 2009 — On the heels of his hit "Where I'm From," Jason Michael Carroll released his new Growing Up Is Getting Old album last week, two years after his first album.
After hearing stories about other artists struggling on their second projects, Jason did his best not to apply pressure to himself during the recording process.
"We could have focused on the sophomore curse," Jason told Billboard. "Producer Don Gehman and I feel that if you focus on negative energy and you worry about things too much, then you reciprocate that negative energy. We did just what we did on the first record: put good songs on the album that meant something to me. We were also looking for that little something extra to show growth over the l ast three years."
Jason will perform a free show June 13 at Nashville's Riverfront Park at the CMA Music Festival. The bill for that day is huge. Jason shares the stage with Emerson Drive, Bill Anderson, Jo Dee Messina, the Lost Trailers, Lorrie Morgan and Tracy Byrd, among others.
