May 7, 2009 — Blake Shelton's hit a new peak in his career over the last year, collecting back-to-back No. 1 singles for the first time, nabbing a gold album and getting a slot on the upcoming George Strait concert tour.
All of it has Blake feeling very good, though the connection with George is particularly gratifying.
"That's probably the biggest deal of them all for me at this point, because if there's one guy out there that I wanna be like, it would be George Strait," Blake told Dial-Global. "And if he or the people in his camp looking around this business for the 'Who's the perfect guy we can pair up with George out there on the road?' and they thought of me, that's huge, that's unbelievable. I'm from Oklahoma. I mean, George Strait could run for president and get our vo tes."
Blake and Julianne Hough begin a run with George May 15 in Charlotte, N.C., with plans to keep the tour together through July 25 in Pittsburgh.
The schedule includes the first event at Cowboy Stadium in Texas June 6.
