May 1, 2009 — Reba McEntire has set Aug. 18 for the release of her next album, and it's one that finds her in a different mood than in some of previous projects. She toured last year with "Because Of You" duet partner Kelly Clarkson, and their shows reinvigorated her approach.
"I think that my song selections are a little more hip," she told USA Today. "I know they're more uptempo. They're funky, they're sassy, they've got attitude."
The album teamed her with two different producers. Tony Brown, who's produced such Reba hits as "Fancy" and "I'm A Survivor"; and Mark Bright, noted for his work with Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood, split the chores.
"Tony did the country swing, the more bluegrass song, and the funkabilly 'I Want A Cowboy,'" Reba said. "Mark did the more contemporary songs that I think are stupendous."
"Strange" is the first sin gle from the album. It's currently at No. 26 on the Country Aircheck chart.
