Paisley Pranks Darius Rucker

From Tennessean senior music writer Peter Cooper:
Saturday night's Brad Paisley show at Sommet Center is the last show of Brad's Paisley Party Tour that features Dierks Bentley and Darius Rucker. And Brad fans may know that he's apt to pull pranks on his opening acts on a tour's final night.
But Brad says he'll be focusing on music rather than high jinks, since Dierks will be rejoining him on tour beginning in June, and since … well, he already pranked Darius.
"I wouldn't prank anybody in Nashville," Brad said. "So in Kansas City… well, see, I have a truck driver who looks a lot like Darius. You know, goatee, bald head.…"
Seems that driver took the Kansas City stage five minutes before Darius was due out there, and he lip-synched to Darius' Hootie & The Blowfish hit "Hold My Hand."
"The crowd would have listened to him for a half hour," Brad said. "Then when he walked off in mid-song, they booed him because they thought Darius was being unprofessional."
Brad said the tour has been a ball and a success, in part because of Darius' evening-opening successes.
"That's a tough slot, when people are just arriving and you're already singing," Brad said. "I've never seen anybody in that slot do as well as he's done. He has a confidence mixed in with humility, and the music he's making now is so authentically country that every hard-core country fan there is immediately won over."
Brad toured through the election season, though he came down as neither a Democrat nor a Republican.
"We had one show the same night as the vice-presidential debate," he said. "I told the crowd, 'This is the Paisley Party, the only party that matters.' "
